Local councillor Rupert Adcock joined residents this weekend for a community litter pick in Market Drayton, showing how small actions can make a big difference when people work together.
Rupert, along with others, focused their efforts on a lay-by on one of the town’s main roads. In just a couple of hours, the team collected around 20 bags of litter, with larger dumped items reported to Shropshire Council’s fly-tipping team for removal.
The litter pick was organised by Market Drayton’s Mayor, Tim Manton, and attracted strong support from local volunteers, all keen to help improve the appearance of the town and take pride in their surroundings.
The results speak for themselves. What was once an unsightly stretch of road was transformed in a matter of hours, highlighting the impact that community action and local leadership can have.
Events like this underline the importance of councillors being visible, active, and engaged in the communities they serve. With more clean-ups planned in the future, Market Drayton is showing that when residents and representatives work together, real change is possible.
