Oswestry By-Election Success for Conservatives

Conservative candidate Saffron Rainey has been elected as Councillor for the Castle Ward of Oswestry Town Council. With 44% of votes cast Saffron managed to see off both the Liberal Democrat and Independent candidates.

Following his election Saffron thanked the election staff for their work running the election and the invaluable advice and assistance he had received from the Association and its helpers. He said he was looking forward to starting his council duties and helping to shape the future of Oswestry for its residents.

The by-election was held on September 2nd 2010 following the resignation of Councillor Angus Hannagan due to relocation for a new job. Saffron is a local businessman and has been involved in many organisations and campaigns within the town.

Another by-election for the same ward is due to be held on Thursday October 7th 2010 following the resignation of another Councillor.
